Beautiful Color Evolution
The more Benchmark Clear Pine is exposed to UV light and rain, the faster its color will transform from brown to silver. To protect the original color, simply oil with a UV protectant.

Natural Weathering
If the goal is to achieve a natural weathered silver, having a clear coat of oil factory applied is still the best way to protect your investment. Factory-applied oil protects all six sides of the wood and doesn’t need to slow down the aging process…it just helps the wood to age more gracefully from it’s day one rich browns (shown here) to a gorgeous silver while better withstanding the harsh weather conditions. It can be a one-time application to help your siding live its best life.

Transform the look of thermally modified wood with Vivid by Thermory. Our translucent colors offer a semi-sheer finish, so you can still see the species’ natural wood grain and texture. This way, you get exactly the look you want from day one.

We’ll work with you to choose the best finish for your project, whether that’s paint for a solid, opaque finish that’s long-lasting or a stain to enhance the wood’s natural color. Whatever you choose, your selection will be expertly applied to all six sides of a board and according to each manufacturer’s standards, giving a more durable finish than is possible with field-applied coatings.

Wood’s natural aging process is influenced by how much exposure it has to the elements. The more Benchmark Clear Pine is exposed to UV light and rain, the faster its color will transform from brown to silver—sometimes in as little as six months. To maintain your wood’s natural color outdoors, due to it’s especially porous nature, it’s encouraged to treat all four sides of any Benchmark Clear Pine board with a penetrating UV protective oil.
